Who's Out Of The Family Will?

Dad sent us this photo of Granddad's birthday last year. As we opened the envelope to take it out we noticed it had become stuck to the glue on the envelope......or did it? Maybe somebody placed glue over the mystery person's face on purpose to relay a subtle message about the family will and who is to be removed! It is quite a controversial topic and no more shall be mentioned of it........

How hot does it get in Dubai?

Before we departed for Dubai, we were given a thermometer by Dan & Adele - thanks guys!!

We have had it inside for a while and it has been fluctuating between 21 and 28 degrees with the aircon going on and off.

Today is an absolute stinker of a day and we thought we would take it outside. The temperature in the shade at the time was 38 degrees celcius. Now, keeping in mind that it is barely the middle of Spring in this part of the world, we thought we would take it to the sunny parts on the sand out the front.

Big mistake. The temperature went off the scale and popped the little glass bulb. it got to about 52.then pop. yep hot. How can it possibly get hotter? Hmmm... stay tuned for more... and a new, industrial thermometer.

Meet the cleaners!

Chandra and Delini pop around every Saturday for a couple of hours to get the place spic and span and get the ironing up to date. Why? Because we can.

Sunset at Jumeirah beach

We both headed down to Jumeirah beach for some fresh sushi and sashimi to go for a walk and watch the sun set.... 1....2...3......oohhhhhhh

Colouring up the walls!

With the help from our 4week old flatmate, Bilal, we finally put up our recently framed wedding pics. It's a threesum set. Let me just say we didn't need the help but Bilal seemed left out so we let him join in...

There wre belly laughs along the way as well as the odd "'what the hell are you doing?!". He had his Pommie way, we had our Aussie way. Aussie way was better.

Mind you I copped a pillow in the bum along the way. Abuse I tell you, abuse.

We are renting out our second bedroom in short spurts (max 2 months) and Bilal moves out mid May. He's been great and we have become good friends and sharing the experience of moving a to a new country together.

A trip to Dubai Creek Park

Last weekend we headed on over for our visit to some really GREENERY!! We were in desparate need after having not had any experience of a true park for 3 months. This park is huge stretches along about 4 kilometres of Dubai Creek on the Bur Dubai side (as opposed to the Deira side which is where the financial district is).
We paid our 5AED entrance fee ($1.75) each and headed on in. It was not too busy, and the people that were there were having famiy bbqs, smoking lots and lots of Sheisha and lazing around. There was plenty of open space as well as shade from trees. It was a really nice few hours. The chair lift was closed which was a bit of a shitter but we can do that next time. Enjoy the pics!

Here come the rains Marge!

We had more rain yesterday and more is forecast for today. Mind you, it was a stinker yesterday before the rain hit and the sandstorms were quite severe. Here are a couple of pics from yesterday's rainy efforts.

The first pic is of Sheikh Zayed Road with all 14 lanes covered in water...the second pic shows the human gutters working overtime to sweep(!!!) the water off the road. hmmm.... no gutters. This year has been the wettest on record by far as well as the latest and coldest winter. People are suggesting that we are in for an absolute stinker this Summer.
